Qld: Man found dead in burning house

BRISBANE, Aug 15 AAP - A man was found dead in a burning house by firefighters calledto the fire at Salisbury in Brisbane's south early today.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Services senior operations coordinator Kevin Devitt saidtwo fire crews were called to the high-set home in Tamblyn Street about 3.55am (AEST)today, but were unable to save the man.

Mr Devitt said fire crews were told there could be up to three people in the two-storey,brick-veneer house.

"It was a single-room fire with a heap of damage to the room," Mr Devitt said.

"The fire crews did really well, they went inside, but found a deceased person on theground floor."

The deceased man is believed to be aged between 30 and 35 years old.

Mr Devitt said the house's two female occupants were not on the property at the time of the fire.

Investigations will continue into the cause of the fire.

The house did not have any smoke alarms.
